Horse team and carrage

Jack Brown, left, can usually be found behind a team of horses during much of the festival.

Making Apple Butter

Along the creek in the lower vendor area, above right, you can always find a group gathered beneath a large shade tree peeling apples. Nearby a kettle is stirred constantly, from which fresh apple butter will soon emerge. It is available for sale...and if you happen to stroll by at just the right time you might find a pan of biscuits and some butter!

True craftsmanship can be found inside the old Trade School building.
Ladies Quilting
Several quilts, left, are under construction during Trade Days 2001.

Tommy Walsh

The annual Trade Days Festival Parade on Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. always draws a large crowd as it makes its way along U.S. 421 from the North Carolina state line down to the Trade Festival grounds.

Tommy Walsh, left, always brings up the rear of the parade on his steady stead.
